The 5th Annual American Red Cross NO SHOW Holiday Ball!

Since July 1, 2009, our on-call volunteers have responded to nine single family fires. Every 2 seconds, someone needs life-saving blood. Every 3 hours, the Red Cross helps a military family in Onslow County with an emergency message. There are at least 4 CPR/First Aid classes being taught every month at the chapter on Ruth Street. Your generous donations will not pay for fancy napkins, pine boughs, or chocolate mouse. Please don't come, but join the folks who will ignore the band, the need for a designated driver, the "spoofy" hairdo, soggy green beans, the disco dance ball, and don't like banquet food anyway! We'll send you a list of everyone who "missed the ball." We need to raise $10,000. Contributions are 100% tax deductible!...>> RSVP

Holiday Mail for Heroes is Back Again!

Send a touch of home to the real heroes of America and their families. For the third year in a row the American Red Cross is teaming up with Pitney Bowes for the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign. Participate in the campaign by sending holiday cards with personal messages to a special post office box. The cards will then be sorted and delievered to military bases, hospitals, veterans hospitals and other locations durring the holiday. Prepare for Flu Season

To help prevent the spread of germs: wash hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid or minimize contact with people who are sick (a minimum three feet distancing is recommended). Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Cover your mouth and nose with tissues when you cough and sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow. September is Preparedness Month

and those of us living in Onslow County should take the time to review our Disaster Preparedness Kits and our Evacuation Plans. One never knows when they might be affected by a fire, tornado, tropical storm, or other disaster. Take responsibility for you and your family, and discuss your plans.

Health and Safety Classes

First Aid, CPR, AED, Aquatics Family Care Giving, and Babysitting are a few examples of courses taught by volunteer instructors at the Red Cross and throughout the community. Instructor training courses are required.

First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
Provide instruction on lifesaving skills to the community. After completing training volunteers will be able to teach First Aid/CPR/AED skills as well as make community presentations.

Water Safety Instructors
Be part of the rewarding opportunity to teach people of all ages to swim and safely have fun in and around the water.

Babysitting Instructors
Learn to teach youth 11-15 effective babysitting skills. Course will help youth develop skills in leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism.

Whale Tale Presenters
Show children how to have fun safely in and around the water in a classroom setting. This video-based presentation geared for Kindergarten through 6th grade is fun for all.
